2LoD Compliance Strategist

Location: London, UK. On-site role.

Target base salary: £75,000–£100,000 per year, plus equity. Final compensation depends on hiring location and level.

What you will do

• Run a practical, risk-based compliance monitoring programme across Ramp’s European entities.
• Independently test key controls and identify gaps across financial crime, payments, safeguarding, outsourcing, governance, and regulatory change.
• Track commitments from regulators, Boards, partners, audits, and internal stakeholders; manage remediation and validate closure.
• Produce clear reporting for management and Boards on risks, control issues, incidents, and progress.
• Provide independent compliance input on significant product, payments, outsourcing, and operational changes.
• Deputise for the Head of Compliance & MLRO where required.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, controls, or regulatory change within payments, fintech, banking, or another regulated environment.
• Experience supporting compliance monitoring, control testing, issue management, remediation, or governance reporting.
• Working knowledge of UK and/or EU financial-services regulation and the ability to apply requirements pragmatically in a fast-moving environment.
• Familiarity with financial-crime controls, including customer due diligence, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, or record keeping.
• Interest in payments, safeguarding, outsourcing, operational resilience, or third-party oversight.
• Strong judgement and communication skills, including the ability to identify issues, explain risk clearly, and work constructively with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Risk teams.
• Curiosity about using AI responsibly to improve compliance analysis, monitoring, or documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience in a UK payment institution, e-money institution, bank, card issuer, acquiring business, or payments fintech.
• Experience supporting FCA-facing work or banking-partner due diligence requirements.
• Experience with Consumer Duty, safeguarding, or formal outsourcing governance.
• Professional compliance, audit, risk, or financial-crime qualification.
