Senior Director of Design (Search & Feeds)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $317,000–$443,800 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Set the design vision and experience strategy for search, feeds, recommendations, and community discovery.
• Lead, coach, and develop design leaders and individual contributors, including establishing clear ownership and growth opportunities.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science to identify opportunities, set priorities, and guide investment decisions.
• Drive high-quality interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and execution from concept through launch.
• Make ranking, personalization, and recommendations understandable while giving users clarity and control over what they see.
• Use research, experimentation, and behavioral data to measure usefulness, satisfaction, discovery quality, engagement, and community health.

Requirements

• Experience leading design for complex consumer products at scale, with meaningful work in search, discovery, feeds, recommendations, or related experiences.
• Experience building and developing design teams, including managing managers and supporting individual contributors.
• Strong product judgment and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear strategies and compelling experiences.
• Deep expertise in interaction design and information architecture, with a portfolio demonstrating design quality and measurable user impact.
• Experience partnering with Engineering, Product, Research, and Data Science on experiences shaped by ranking and personalization systems.
• Ability to balance user needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and the health of a broader product ecosystem.
• Clear communication and the ability to influence senior leaders, resolve competing priorities, and make decisions with incomplete information.
• Appreciation for community-driven products and the ways people seek information, participate, and build trust online.
