Software Engineer, Technology Security & Risk (Security)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid work policy with flexible in-office days

Base pay: $165,000–$250,000 per year, plus potential discretionary bonus and benefits

What you will do

• Develop robust software in Java, Go, or Python to improve system capabilities and performance while reducing operational complexity.
• Lead architectural decisions and technical strategy for migrating legacy infrastructure to modern cloud-native platforms.
• Maintain high security and reliability standards across authentication, authorization, and identity management systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction through code reviews and design discussions.
• Drive cross-team initiatives improving observability, monitoring, documentation, and security posture.
• Research industry standards, evaluate emerging security technologies, contribute to open source projects, and become a technical authority for security infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another technical discipline.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed systems at scale.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go.
• Deep understanding of system design, distributed systems architecture, and database management.
• Experience with authentication and authorization protocols, configuration management tools, CI/CD, and security standards.
• Track record of leading technical initiatives and making architectural decisions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams and with collaborators.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of entitlement systems and audit processes in financial or technology organizations.
• Familiarity with identity systems and technologies.
• Proficiency in SQL and large-scale data management.
• Experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure and hybrid cloud architectures.
• Expertise in zero trust security models and implementation.
• Open source contributions or published technical content.
