Security Engineer III (Infrastructure Operations) (Cybersecurity)

Location: West Point, GA, United States; on-site role with rotational after-hours on-call support.

Salary: $80,000–$114,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, operate, tune, and improve enterprise security technologies, including IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, encryption, endpoint protection, firewalls, antivirus, DLP, database activity monitoring, and web application firewalls.
• Develop operational documentation, cybersecurity policies, procedures, controls, runbooks, risk-management plans, and incident-response plans.
• Conduct security risk assessments, exposure analyses, architecture reviews, security assessments, and penetration tests across systems and networks.
• Monitor networks, systems, and infrastructure for attacks, malware, intrusions, and vulnerabilities; investigate, contain, remediate, and fully recover impacted systems.
• Lead or support incident response, security reporting, audits, compliance reviews, remediation follow-up, and rotational after-hours on-call coverage.
• Collaborate with Security Engineering, Network Engineering, Security Operations, internal clients, and external stakeholders while providing security training and awareness support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Security Engineering, Security Planning, or Security Operations.
• At least 2 years of network administration or engineering experience and 2 years of system administration experience.
• Advanced knowledge of security technologies and experience operating in medium to complex computing environments.
• Hands-on experience with at least two enterprise security technologies, including IPS/IDS, SSL/IPsec VPNs, firewalls, NAC, Windows/Linux operating systems, packet inspection, or LDAP/Active Directory.
• Strong understanding of network architecture and routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, and security dependencies across server and virtual-machine environments.
• Experience implementing security technologies, conducting risk assessments, and integrating security controls into operational frameworks.

Nice to have

• Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, or SANS.
• Experience with endpoint security solutions such as EDR, antivirus, and DLP, and web filtering tools such as Palo Alto, Forcepoint, or Sophos.
• Strong technical documentation skills, including reports, proposals, statements of work, and white papers.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks in a team environment.
