Security Operations Engineer III (Cybersecurity)

Location: HMGMA, Savannah, Georgia, United States; onsite role with rotational after-hours on-call support.

Salary: $79,800–$108,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, operate, tune, and continuously improve enterprise security technologies, including DLP, antivirus, IPS/IDS, endpoint protection, database activity monitoring, firewalls, and web application firewalls.
• Develop operational documentation, runbooks, cybersecurity policies, procedures, controls, and incident response plans.
• Monitor networks, systems, and infrastructure for attacks, malware, intrusions, and vulnerabilities; investigate, contain, and remediate affected systems.
• Conduct security risk assessments, exposure analyses, architecture reviews, security assessments, and penetration tests.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, risk-management activities, reporting, remediation follow-up, and security awareness training.
• Partner with Security Engineering, Network Engineering, internal clients, and external stakeholders while leading or participating in incident response and providing after-hours on-call support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Security Engineering, Security Planning, or Security Operations.
• At least 2 years of network administration or engineering experience and 2 years of system administration experience.
• Advanced knowledge of security technologies and experience operating in medium to complex computing environments.
• Hands-on experience with at least two enterprise security technologies, such as IPS/IDS, SSL/IPsec VPNs, firewalls, NAC, Windows/Linux operating systems, packet inspection, or LDAP/Active Directory.
• Strong understanding of network architecture and routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, and security dependencies across server and virtual-machine environments.
• Experience implementing security technologies, conducting risk assessments, and integrating security controls into operational frameworks.

Nice to have

• Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, or SANS.
• Experience with endpoint security solutions including EDR, antivirus, and DLP, plus web-filtering tools such as Palo Alto, Forcepoint, or Sophos.
• Strong technical documentation skills, including reports, proposals, statements of work, and white papers.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks in a team environment.
