Machine Learning Engineer

Location: Hybrid in the Greater Vancouver Area, BC; work from home most of the week with mandatory office attendance in Vancouver every Thursday. Candidates must currently be located in the Greater Vancouver Area.

Base compensation: CAD 165,000–200,000 per year, plus company RSUs.

What you will do

• Develop and improve recommendation and classification algorithms to enhance user experiences.
• Design, implement, and deploy reliable machine learning systems for a high-traffic online art community.
• Build end-to-end systems covering data ingestion through production serving of results.
• Apply current developments in data and machine learning engineering to platform systems and goals.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in machine learning or closely related disciplines.
• Understanding of machine learning algorithms, especially recommendation and classification.
• Experience designing and deploying cloud-based production systems.
• Expertise with large-scale data processing and machine learning infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Python, Apache Spark, AWS, and PyTorch.
• Knowledge of large language models and their applications to recommendation and classification.
• Current, valid work authorization to work legally in Canada without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with serverless approaches or large-scale search engines such as Elasticsearch or Vespa.
