Senior AI Engineer / AI Architect (Generative AI)

Location: Adelaide, South Australia, Australia; office-based and onsite. Occasional work from home may be available, capped at one day per week; the roles are not remote or regularly hybrid.

Salary: Senior AI Engineer: AUD 130,000–150,000 base per year; AI Architect: AUD 150,000–170,000 base per year. Superannuation and an employee share option plan are additional.

What you will do

• Design and deliver generative and agentic AI features addressing customer needs.
• Integrate AI components with applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Build evaluation and monitoring approaches for accuracy, reliability, and performance.
• Guide developers, share engineering practices, and support AI adoption across the team.
• As a Senior AI Engineer, focus on hands-on development, integration, testing, and Java components.
• As an AI Architect, own broader system design, scalability, and technical direction.

Requirements

• Australian citizenship is mandatory because of the NV1 defence clearance eligibility requirement.
• Senior AI Engineer: 5 years of software engineering or technology development experience, ideally 8 years.
• AI Architect: 10 years of software engineering or technology development experience, including substantial AI architecture and implementation experience.
• Practical experience deploying generative and agentic AI solutions into production.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including experience with cloud environments, data storage, and application integration.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain and document technical decisions.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• For the Senior AI Engineer role, hands-on Java development experience.
• For the AI Architect role, experience designing scalable cloud solutions, guiding engineering teams, and supporting AI evaluation and continuous monitoring.

Nice to have

• Senior AI Engineer: React, Spring, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS experience.
• AI Architect: AWS or GCP experience, with React and Spring familiarity.
