AI Principal Engineer

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $261,500–$353,500 per year; may also include cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Identify and drive opportunities that accelerate customer, business, and technology outcomes across the company.
• Contribute hands-on to coding, architecture decisions, and significant technology initiatives from end to end.
• Partner with customers and cross-functional stakeholders to understand behaviors and deliver solutions to critical customer problems.
• Design and implement durable, robust, scalable, secure, highly available, and high-performing software solutions.
• Guide the application of AI to customer problems by assessing the value and limitations of AI technologies.
• Build AI-native applications and evaluate solution accuracy using appropriate evaluation tools.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience developing systems or software for large business environments.
• 7+ years of experience designing complex distributed systems, management products, or business applications.
• Full-stack development experience applying AI technologies and tools to user experiences or backend solutions.
• Experience with AI technologies and tools including SageMaker, Vert.x, LangChain, large language models, prompt engineering, DialogFlow, and Python.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, NodeJS, Java, and Spring.
• Ability to drive velocity in a highly matrixed environment and partner with numerous stakeholders.
• Knowledge of AI-native application development, AI model types and trade-offs, current tools for real-world AI applications, and solution evaluation methods.
• Prior experience working on teams that built AI-native applications for 1+ years.
• Explicit coding experience with Code Assist tools such as Claude, including developing custom plugins or applications.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science or a related area.

• Prior experience working in a cloud computing environment such as AWS or GCP.
