Principal Technical Product Manager (AI)

Riot Games develops games and player experiences, including commerce and publishing platforms that support digital goods across its titles.

What you will do

• Define product strategy for cross-cutting Commerce platform areas and communicate the product vision, mission, strategy, and multi-year roadmap.
• Lead engineers designing, building, operating, and maintaining critical microservices for storefronts, inventory fulfillment, and randomization-based systems.
• Partner with engineering leads and game studios to deliver robust, scalable platform solutions integrated into developer workflows.
• Work with technical and non-technical customers to understand requirements and design appropriate solutions.
• Lead ambiguous initiatives from structure and prioritization through prototyping, delivery, and operational excellence.
• Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for live product and internal customer support when required.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in Technical Product Management or a related engineering or technical field.
• Experience leading backend engineering teams in designing, building, operating, and maintaining large-scale microservice ecosystems.
• Principal-level experience navigating organizational complexity and driving outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong technical background, including a computer science degree or equivalent experience, sufficient to debate tradeoffs with engineering leads.
• Experience translating open-ended or ambiguous technical capabilities into concrete product roadmaps with milestones and success metrics.
• Track record owning platform, developer-tools, or systems products with internal customers.
• Experience integrating agentic AI tooling into product management processes and craft.

Nice to have

• Experience building ecommerce platforms and experiences involving payments, fulfillment, fraud, stores, inventory, and administration tools.
• Experience with global products, regional requirements, privacy, compliance, identity, payments, or other operationally and regulatorily complex domains.
• Experience designing products for internal technical customers such as game teams, engineers, or platform partners.
• Experience in games, live services, consumer technology, entertainment, or another globally scaled product environment.
• Experience creating reusable platform capabilities that reduce duplicated work across products or business units.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, product management, business, or equivalent practical experience.
