Senior Systems Engineer - Development

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Onsite role. ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residency, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $117,000–$163,000 USD per year in California.

What you will do

• Define and manage product requirements at system, subsystem, and component levels, including flowing mission-derived Key Performance Parameters into system requirements.
• Interface with current and prospective customers to connect customer needs with system requirements.
• Coordinate requirements flow-down and traceability across hardware, software, and firmware subsystem teams.
• Develop and maintain system architectures and MBSE structural and behavioral diagrams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Create interface control documentation, manage subsystem interfaces, and perform trade studies and rapid impact analyses.
• Support configuration management, system analysis, IV&V planning and preparation, multidisciplinary coordination, and technical proposal writing.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, or a similar field.
• At least 5 years of industry experience, or at least 3 years with an MS degree; experience across the full product lifecycle from concept to delivery is preferred.
• Experience contributing to a technical baseline for a system or product.
• Experience with systems engineering tools for requirements management and product lifecycle management, such as JAMA, Polarion, or DOORS.
• Experience with MBSE tools such as SparxEA or Capella.
• Experience with Python or a similar object-oriented language.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, or similar version control systems.
• Ability to identify gaps, prioritize issues within the project or program context, and lead cross-team efforts to resolve them.

Nice to have

• Experience with RF systems such as radar, communications, or electronic warfare, preferably including phased arrays.
• Experience in system safety and reliability engineering.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to raise questions and challenge technical points when needed.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work across all organizational levels.
• Ability to anticipate and communicate blockers, delays, and cost increases before escalation is required.
• Organization, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and focus on rapidly delivering customer value.
