Localization Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Cork, Ireland; onsite attendance may be required as needed. Candidates must be located in Ireland. Relocation assistance is not offered.

What you will do

• Drive adoption of AI-powered localization technologies, generative AI, machine translation, large language models, and automation workflows.
• Evaluate emerging AI solutions and recommend approaches that improve multilingual customer experiences, scalability, quality, and efficiency.
• Design and implement workflow improvements, scripting, integrations, and automation solutions to reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery.
• Conduct linguistic quality assurance and maintain language quality standards, style guides, terminology, and localization best practices.
• Manage terminology databases, translation memories, taxonomies, ontologies, style guides, language standards, and AI evaluation datasets.
• Partner with stakeholders to resolve linguistic challenges and support multilingual AI systems and customer-facing experiences.

Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in at least one of Italian, German, French, Dutch, Brazilian Portuguese, or Portuguese.
• Strong linguistic expertise and understanding of localization best practices.
• Experience in localization engineering, localization QA, language technology, globalization, content operations, or a related field.
• Experience with localization management systems and localization technologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, workflow improvement experience, and operational process improvement skills.
• Introductory-level experience or exposure to software development and automation; Python and C# are preferred.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a global, highly collaborative environment.
• Passion for technology, innovation, AI, language quality, and customer experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar generative AI platforms.
• Prompt engineering experience and experience evaluating AI-generated multilingual content.
• Knowledge of AI governance, AI quality evaluation, Responsible AI principles, AI agents, autonomous workflows, agent orchestration, and AI knowledge systems.
• Python scripting, REST APIs, system integrations, JSON, XML, Git, GitHub, and software development practices.
• Experience with Power Automate, Logic Apps, workflow automation platforms, or equivalent technologies.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with XTM, Smartling, Phrase, MemoQ, Trados, or similar localization platforms.
• Understanding of internationalization principles, translation memory, terminology management, machine translation, localization automation, multilingual AI systems, and language data management.
