Staff Security Engineer

Location: Hybrid, with defined in-person presence requirements in Rockville, MD; other listed locations include Tysons, VA, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Jericho, NY, Jersey City, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, Washington, DC, Woodbridge, NJ, Connecticut, and Washington State.

Salary: $96,600–$172,800 annually for Rockville, MD; ranges vary by listed U.S. location.

What you will do

• Identify, validate, and prioritize information security risks using established processes and techniques.
• Architect, design, operate, and monitor security control systems.
• Review, triage, and prioritize control output, resolving discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
• Evaluate and recommend security technologies, techniques, and tools.
• Review and help define security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures, while monitoring regulatory and policy compliance.
• Lead or co-lead process improvement initiatives, collaborate across teams, and informally mentor junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline with at least three years of related experience, or equivalent training and work experience.
• Direct experience in more than one area: network and systems security architecture, design and implementation; secure software assurance; intrusion detection; defense and incident response; security configuration management; access control design and implementation; or security policy and standards development.
• Knowledge of communications protocols.
• Experience with one or more cybersecurity tools covering configuration assessment, log aggregation, integrity verification, web application security testing, network access control, network intrusion prevention, or endpoint security.
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Ability to develop effective working relationships that improve the quality of work products.
• Ability to stay organized, handle competing priorities, maintain focus, rapidly develop new skills, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid knowledge of more than one information security principle and discipline.
