Principal Reliability Engineer (Medical Devices)

Location: Onsite in North Haven, Connecticut, United States of America. U.S. work authorization sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above.

Salary: $132,000–$198,000 USD annually. The position is also eligible for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Provide mechanical and/or electrical reliability engineering expertise within cross-functional new product development teams.
• Develop reliability plans, identify reliability activities, and define engineering and statistical processes across the product lifecycle.
• Perform HALT, ALT, discovery, validation, verification, de-rating, prediction, modeling, and data analysis activities.
• Collaborate with R&D on reliability tests, materials and component selection, and early identification of design weaknesses.
• Support post-market reliability activities through field performance and failure-data analysis.
• Lead and mentor teams while maintaining compliant reliability documentation and partnering with software reliability and software development teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a similar engineering discipline with 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in one of these fields with 5 years of relevant experience.
• For baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree meeting the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Nice to have

• ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer, Design for Reliability and Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.
• AAMI design control certification.
• Experience in reliability engineering and in-depth knowledge of regulations and relevant standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex information and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Leadership and project management skills, ability to lead multiple projects, and ability to work independently.
• Medical device, automotive, or aerospace industry experience.
• Proficiency in quality management systems, risk management, regulatory compliance, and statistics.
• Experience with ReliaSoft, LabVIEW, and Sherlock.
