Network Service Engineer (VMware)

Location: Vitry-sur-Seine, France; more than 50% travel; remote and onsite diagnostic support, site visits, and customer-facing activities required.

What you will do

• Deliver technical support for trials, tenders, customers, Field Service Engineers, and Sales teams.
• Install, configure, integrate, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual enterprise systems, servers, workstations, operating systems, and network services.
• Deploy and maintain VMware environments, including multiple virtual servers on host systems, and support network optimisation for VMware integration.
• Perform software upgrades, patching, firmware updates, security updates, breakdown response, and maintenance for IT/Digital products.
• Support site visits, client meetings, system installations, SAT/UAT documentation, change control, and technical documentation.
• Provide remote, onsite, and out-of-hours on-call incident support while following ITIL processes, Health and Safety requirements, and customer and contractual requirements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience working with networked IT systems interfacing with capital products or similar industry solutions.
• Proven experience in IT engineering, including installation, system integration, support, maintenance, fault diagnosis, escalation, and troubleshooting of enterprise digital solutions in customer-facing environments.
• HNC, ONC, City & Guilds qualification in IT, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with VMware environments; familiarity with VMware ESX/ESXi and virtualisation technologies is required, with VMware certification desirable.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server, desktop operating systems, and Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, LAN/WAN connectivity, routing protocols, and the implementation, configuration, and management of virtual and physical networking solutions.
• Strong fault-finding, log analysis, troubleshooting, networking, IT, electrical, and mechanical engineering skills.
• ITIL Foundation awareness or experience; experience producing and delivering SAT and UAT documentation and technical support guides.
• Good written and verbal communication, customer care, relationship-building, organisation, time management, and Microsoft Office skills; able to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to read complex designs, propose solutions that improve stability, scalability, and availability, make timely decisions, collaborate effectively, support continuous improvement, and coach or lead others.
