Financial Accountant (Fintech)

Location: UK, Theale (Reading); hybrid working with attendance at the Theale office at least once a week, typically on Thursdays.

What you will do

• Own general ledger accounting and month-end close activities for the Swiss entity in Geneva while supporting other EMEA entities.
• Prepare and review accruals, prepayments, payroll, expenses, accounts payable, and other month-end accounting adjustments.
• Perform P&L reviews and balance sheet reconciliations, investigate movements, and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
• Manage internally generated assets, including developer time, through calculation, capitalisation, and amortisation, alongside wider fixed asset accounting.
• Support statutory audits, financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, bank administration, treasury, intercompany, tax, and other accounting activities.
• Partner with FP&A and business stakeholders on cost analysis, variance commentary, cost control, process improvement, and financial controls, including opportunities for AI and automation.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in financial accounting, general ledger accounting, or management accounting, ideally in an international or multi-entity organisation.
• Strong understanding of month-end close, including accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and P&L review.
• Experience with financial controls and audit requirements, ideally including external or statutory audits.
• Experience working across multiple entities and with international Finance colleagues.
• Strong financial systems skills and confidence working with detailed accounting data.
• Ability to combine technical accounting expertise with effective communication and business partnering.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment where priorities and processes evolve.

Nice to have

• Experience in a technology, software, or SaaS business.
• Experience in a shared services or international Finance environment.
• Exposure to US GAAP.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, cash flow forecasting, or treasury activities.
• CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or an equivalent qualification, including candidates nearing qualification.
• Substantial relevant accounting experience as a qualified-by-experience candidate.
• French language skills.
