Senior Risk Strategist (Market Manipulation, Trading Risk)

Location: Remote-first, work-from-home arrangement for candidates in Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, or the United Arab Emirates; the arrangement may vary depending on the role and team.

What you will do

• Design and maintain risk strategies to detect market manipulation across spot, perpetual futures, options, and other trading products.
• Investigate suspected manipulation rings through order-flow analysis, self-match and crossing patterns, order-book microstructure anomalies, and cross-account linkage.
• Build behavioral profiles for manipulation typologies involving low-liquidity instruments, leveraged products, and liquidation cascades.
• Quantify market distortion, potential losses, and exposure concentration to support strategy prioritization and management reporting.
• Partner with trading product, Compliance, Market Surveillance, and related teams on surveillance rules and control measures.

Requirements

• Hands-on derivatives trading experience, including futures, perpetual contracts, and options mechanics such as leverage, margining, liquidation mechanisms, insurance funds, and Auto-Deleveraging settings.
• Trading risk management experience focused on detecting and preventing market manipulation, including spoofing, layering, wash trading, front-running, insider trading, and dealer misappropriation.
• Strong data analysis skills with required SQL; ability to independently design and validate detection logic against order-level and trade-level datasets.
• Ability to reason from an attacker's perspective, including how manipulators construct positions, disguise intent, and exploit product rules.
• Experience collaborating across risk, compliance, product, or legal functions.

Nice to have

• Experience at a crypto exchange, brokerage, or trading venue in surveillance, trading risk, or market conduct roles.
• Personal quantitative trading experience and verifiable derivatives-trading account performance or P&L statements.
• Python experience.
• Familiarity with traditional-finance market-abuse frameworks and surveillance vendors.
• Familiarity with crypto on-chain fund-flow tracing.
• Experience with graph analysis and entity linking for uncovering collusion networks across accounts, including crypto on-chain fund-flow tracing.
• Understanding of market anomaly signals such as VPIN and HHI.
