Senior Software Engineer (Product Security)

Location: Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario or Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hybrid: office attendance 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and one flex day; remote work is available for up to 4 weeks per year.

Salary: CAD 160,000–222,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build performant, scalable, and reusable security frameworks for authentication and data access in Kotlin services.
• Collaborate with Risk, DevOps, and IT teams to assess and improve access controls and audit trails across the software development lifecycle.
• Consult with product teams to identify and address product security vulnerabilities and risks during design and development.
• Promote secure coding practices, security best practices, and awareness of emerging threats among managers, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Build security features that protect customers and their data.

Requirements

• Passion for programming and solving security problems at scale through code and automation.
• Experience writing and reviewing code in object-oriented languages such as Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
• Thorough understanding of web application security principles and common vulnerabilities, including the OWASP Top 10.
• Experience working in modern cloud computing environments such as AWS or GCP.
