Senior Counsel, Commercial (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site

Base salary: $160,000–$250,000 per year. Stock options may be offered in addition.

AI solutions provider offering pre-trained models for content moderation, deepfake detection, digital child safety, intellectual property protection, sponsorship management, and related content processing use cases.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial revenue-generating contracts, including master service agreements and data and technology licensing agreements.
• Advise on applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance, particularly privacy, personal data, and AI matters.
• Improve legal forms, policies, and processes to streamline deals and product or service terms.
• Work cross-functionally to analyze legal risks, develop creative solutions, and build trusted advisor relationships.
• Support the General Counsel with additional corporate matters and lead deal discussions with internal and external executives.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited school and current membership in good standing with the California bar.
• 7+ years of relevant legal experience, ideally including experience at a well-regarded law firm followed by in-house experience.
• Experience with commercial technology transactions, including SaaS, data licensing, and partnerships, involving Fortune 1000 companies and global counterparties.
• Strong drafting skills and keen attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration and negotiation with internal and external business and legal teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple dynamic priorities.
• Experience handling data privacy and security issues.
• Flexible mindset, technical knowledge, and passion for innovation.
