Mechanical Engineer (AR Waveguide)

Location: Santa Clara, CA; frequent office commuting is required for lab experiments, and travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Salary: $124,000.00–$171,000.00 per year.

What you will do

• Design mechanical components and modules for AR waveguide-related manufacturing and inspection equipment.
• Test new concepts, troubleshoot third-party manufacturing tools, and improve equipment with limited mechanical engineering guidance.
• Model motion components, waveguide handling modules, and vacuum, CDA, and liquid delivery modules using 3D CAD and related analysis tools.
• Generate drawings, layouts, schematics, specifications, and datasets according to internal, industrial, and ASME Y14.5M standards.
• Select OEM products, coordinate with suppliers and machine shops, and procure, assemble, and test designed parts and equipment.
• Analyze test data, document designs and procedures, train users, support safety certification, and resolve startup and field issues.

Requirements

• MS degree for fresh graduates, or BS degree plus 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• Fluency in 3D CAD software, ideally Siemens NX, for designing and drawing equipment-related parts, modules, and assemblies.
• Familiarity with design for function, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
• Hands-on ability to integrate, debug, troubleshoot, and demonstrate robust solutions in an engineering lab environment.
• Fluent spoken English and fluent technical communication using data, models, and ideas.
• Fluent technical reporting and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and prepare documentation for Semi-S2 and CE certification.
• Open-minded, curious, positive, collaborative, and adaptable when handling changing projects and priorities.
• Ability to commute to the office frequently and carry 20 lb parts in the laboratory.
