Machine Learning Manager (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site.

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 annual base salary; stock options may be offered in addition.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of machine learning engineers, helping team members achieve their goals and develop professionally.
• Work with product management, engineering, DevOps, labeling, and sales to define the roadmap and support the team’s long-term vision.
• Participate in technical product design and architecture.
• Manage the full machine learning development cycle, including data collection, labeling, model development, experimentation, training, testing, and production deployment.
• Drive product milestone delivery, release tested model features, and maintain quality metrics.
• Manage security, risk, information asset protection, data maintenance practices, and incident reporting for the business function.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science or a similar technical field.
• 4+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer, including training large deep learning models and working with real-world data.
• Knowledge of at least one machine learning focus area, such as computer vision, audio, or NLP.
• 2+ years of experience managing machine learning teams.
• Ability to understand and make well-reasoned trade-offs when designing features.
• Ability to set roadmaps and goals for teams and individual members, delegate, mentor, and deliver results.
• Desire to interview engineers, collaborate with recruiting, and support smooth onboarding of new team members.
• Experience collaborating with product managers and labeling teams to deliver model improvements.
