GNC Software Engineer (UAS)

Location: Full-time on-site in Los Angeles (Hawthorne), California, United States.

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 base salary per year, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of guidance and navigation software for a clean-sheet airframe.
• Implement guidance software within commercial off-the-shelf software frameworks.
• Support airframe design activities and system integration of software on flight hardware.
• Collaborate with engineering teams while expanding skills across product families.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional object-oriented software development experience.
• Experience designing and implementing guidance algorithms for UAS platforms using commercial autopilot frameworks such as ArduPilot.
• Practical understanding of flight dynamics for fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms.
• Solid understanding and extensive experience developing software for microcontroller architectures such as STM32 or similar, and Linux hosted on Nvidia Jetson, AMD/Xilinx SoC, or Microblaze architectures.
• Experience developing real-time embedded software, including hardware interfaces.
• Experience integrating vendor-provided low-level drivers and firmware.
• Experience with Agile lifecycle processes, including Scrum, Continuous Integration, and Test-Driven Development.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate in small teams.
• U.S. Person status is required to access U.S.-only data systems.

Nice to have

• Current or previous DoD security clearance.
• Part 107 remote pilot certification.
• Experience integrating EO/IR or radar sensors.
• Experience developing firmware with VHDL and embedded software development flows on AMD/Xilinx FPGAs.
• Experience with Git.
• Experience with production-level software development and deployment, including DevOps, DevSecOps, and/or CI/CD using modern FOSS/COTS toolsets.
• Experience with full-lifecycle software development and HW/SW integration, testing, and verification and validation of high-TRL systems.
