Cryptography Security Intern

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada. The internship runs for 4 months, from January to April 2027. Travel for in-person engagement is required as part of the role, including possible department offsites, team meetings, and customer or industry events. Remote work means working from the employee's home country.

What you will do

• Build cryptographic libraries and implement modern algorithms in client applications.
• Develop proof-of-concepts and implement new industry specifications in code.
• Develop shared cryptographic and security libraries for security-critical code across applications.
• Consider security, performance, and usability when implementing cryptographic functionality.
• Conduct code and design reviews to maintain cryptographic hygiene and standards across the codebase.
• Collaborate with security developers and technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Passion for modern cryptographic algorithms and applying them in real-world situations.
• Ability to work effectively in a team with positive communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfort working in a small team of security developers specializing in Rust and Golang security.
• Willingness to take on new challenges and complete them.
• Curiosity, openness to feedback, willingness to ask questions, and ability to learn from mistakes.
• Interest in improving existing approaches and collaborating to achieve team results.

Nice to have

• Experience working with standards bodies such as FIDO, W3C, ISO, NIST, or OIDF.
• Experience with emerging industry standards and technologies, including Passkeys or Post Quantum Algorithms.
• Experience with Rust or Golang, or demonstrated ability to learn new programming languages quickly.
