Senior Firmware Engineer (DSP)

What you will do

• Design and implement real-time systems, DSP algorithms, and microcontroller firmware tailored to project requirements.
• Optimize latency, throughput, memory usage, processing efficiency, signal-processing algorithms, and embedded systems.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve complex technical issues while ensuring reliability, robustness, regulatory compliance, and high-quality system design.
• Conduct code reviews, design evaluations, and testing, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, identify skill gaps, create personalized development plans, and provide technical guidance.
• Support workload planning, task prioritization, resource allocation, process improvement, and team coordination.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience designing, simulating, implementing, verifying, and validating real-time systems on DSPs and microcontrollers.
• 5+ years of professional experience programming in C++ and C.
• 5+ years of professional experience with real-time operating systems, including FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Good knowledge of complex digital electronic circuit theory and design, and digital signal-processing algorithms including FFT, digital filters, and re-sampling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal generators.
• Experience with peripheral standards and communication protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, RS485, RS232, and RGMII.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
• Proficiency with source-code revision control, especially Git.
• Good knowledge of agile methodologies and fluent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SHARC or equivalent DSP architecture.
• Knowledge of FPGA architecture and design, and HDL languages.
• Knowledge of build systems such as CMake.
• Proficiency with GitLab, Docker, CI/CD, and Artifactory.
• Experience with application-layer protocols such as DNP, 1588, and MQTT.
• Knowledge of electronic components and PCB reworking.
• Experience with TCL scripting.
