Medior Data Scientist Transaction Monitoring (Financial Crime)

Location: Hybrid, Utrecht, Netherlands; 36–40 hours per week.

Salary: €5,030–€7,183 gross per month for a 36-hour work week, scale 09.

What you will do

• Develop and improve detection rules within multidisciplinary teams to uncover patterns linked to illegal activities.
• Analyze hirify.global transactions supporting monitoring activities for more than 8 million customers.
• Identify relevant data sources and evaluate their integration into analytical models.
• Set up, maintain, and continuously refine analytical models with business experts, model owners, and IT.
• Identify challenges related to model choices and contribute to suitable solutions.
• Collaborate with junior and mid-level colleagues, IT specialists, and analysts to ensure consistent best practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in data science or data analysis, preferably with large datasets.
• Strong programming skills in Python and PySpark.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to present complex topics clearly and accessibly to business stakeholders.
• Excellent verbal and written English skills.
• Structured, precise, and clear working and communication style.
• Effective collaboration across different roles and initiative to improve outcomes.
• Intrinsic motivation to fight financial crime by building models with real impact.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-impact environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Databricks.
• Experience implementing and maintaining analytical models in production.
