What you will do
- Design, build and maintain robust ETL and ELT pipelines for reliable, high-quality organisational data.
- Create scalable ingestion processes for structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
- Develop and maintain modern data warehouses and data lakes supporting reporting, analytics and data science.
- Design dimensional, star and snowflake data models and deploy cloud-based data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Monitor and optimise database, platform and storage performance to improve scalability, resilience and efficiency.
- Partner with analysts, data scientists and business stakeholders; implement data quality checks, governance, security, access controls, data protection and regulatory requirements; document solutions and share knowledge.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field, or proven experience in data engineering or a related role.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, with solid database experience across relational and non-relational platforms.
- Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as dbt Cloud, Azure Data Factory or Fabric Pipelines.
- Practical experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modelling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ideally with an understanding of finance data.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality data.
Nice to have
- Relevant cloud certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Fivetran or Alteryx.
