Financial Controller (Maternity Cover)

Salary: £80,000–£100,000 GBP per annum; 12-month fixed-term maternity-cover contract

What you will do

• Own month-end close, ensuring material balances are reconciled, variances are explained and reporting is accurate and timely.
• Maintain an audit-ready general ledger and balance sheet across hirify.global’s UK and US entities.
• Coordinate statutory accounts, audits, tax and regulatory activities with internal stakeholders and external advisers.
• Review UK payroll, produce management cost reporting and analyse financial performance, trends, risks and opportunities.
• Reconcile large datasets across multiple systems, investigate anomalies, maintain Google Sheets workbooks and improve financial controls.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, provide financial guidance and document processes for continuity during and after the maternity-cover period.

Requirements

• Independent ownership of complex month-end close, balance-sheet reconciliation and management-reporting processes.
• High proficiency in Google Sheets, including building, reviewing and improving models with complex formulas and large datasets.
• Sound accounting judgement in changing environments, balancing pace and pragmatism with accuracy, evidence and control.
• Exceptional attention to detail combined with the ability to interpret financial implications for the wider business.
• Clear and thoughtful communication with finance and non-finance colleagues in a remote working environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in an international, multi-entity, subscription, marketplace or technology business.
• Qualified accountant status or equivalent experience owning technically complex financial work.
• Experience supporting statutory audits, tax compliance or regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience improving finance systems, automating reporting or reducing manual data processing.

Hiring process
