Senior PHP Developer (Ironwall)

Location: Vilnius, Warsaw, or Kaunas; office work is encouraged with the possibility of up to two remote days per week, plus a work-from-anywhere policy allowing work from almost anywhere in the world.

Gross salary: €5,600–€7,200 per month for the Lithuanian market, or PLN 23,800–33,400 per month for the Polish market, depending on skills and experience.

What you will do

• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
• Architect, build, and maintain high-traffic, business-critical backend services focused on reliability, low latency, and data security.
• Make technical decisions across service boundaries, domain modeling, data persistence, and deployment pipelines.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and design robust distributed workflows.
• Use AI developer tooling, including coding assistants, LLM-driven refactoring, and automated testing agents, to streamline technical workflows.
• Drive code quality, testing practices, mentoring, and end-to-end ownership from RFCs and system design through deployment, observability, and post-launch stability.

Requirements

• Senior-level backend expertise with extensive experience building, scaling, and maintaining production applications using modern PHP 8.x.
• Familiarity or willingness to work with Go or Node.js/TypeScript.
• Proven experience designing scalable RESTful APIs, clean domain models, and microservice or modular architectures.
• Strong hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, including indexing, schema optimization, and caching strategies such as Redis.
• Ability to drive projects from concept to deployment and make trade-offs between speed, scalability, and technical debt.
• Mastery of automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, CI/CD pipelines, and maintainable, well-documented code.

Nice to have

• Experience scaling platforms handling millions of high-concurrency requests or large-scale automated data removal pipelines.
• Deep understanding of observability practices, including distributed tracing, structured logging, and Prometheus/Grafana.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure such as AWS and Kubernetes.
