Associate Scientist, Upstream MSAT (Biologics)

Location: Framingham, MA; US and Puerto Rico residents only.

Salary: $64,500–$93,166.66 per year.

What you will do

• Design, execute, and interpret bench-scale experiments for next-generation mammalian cell culture processes.
• Analyze process development and commercial manufacturing data to improve robustness, process understanding, and next-generation processes for monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins.
• Support technology transfer to pilot-scale and commercial manufacturing facilities, including process validation and continuous process implementation.
• Contribute to technical investigations of complex manufacturing deviations and establish best practices across development and manufacturing teams.
• Set up and maintain upstream laboratory equipment, systems, and training.
• Present data and results, author internal procedures and technical reports, and collaborate with scientists and engineers across hirify.global’s biologics manufacturing network and partner organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, biology, biochemistry, or a similar or related field.
• 0–5 years of hands-on experience in laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing-scale work for biologics products; relevant university projects, thesis work, or research will be considered.
• Excellent scientific background, technical writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional, cross-site teams in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail, flexibility, motivation, and willingness to broaden technical skills.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with cell culture, ideally in mammalian systems.
• Experience with upstream process development, including process transfer, scale-up or scale-down, validation, or continuous process verification for mammalian-expressed proteins.
• Experience with statistical analysis software.
• Experience with medium development, process analytical technology, cell banking, process intensification, computational modelling for biological systems, or laboratory equipment automation.
