Associate Scientist, Resynthesis (Organic Chemistry)

Location: Monrovia, CA, United States; onsite production role.

Salary: $85,000–$142,000 annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Conduct high-quality, rapid high-throughput production resynthesis in solid and solution phases, following standard operating procedures and laboratory safety standards.
• Use automated integrations and collaborate with upstream and downstream stakeholders to execute synthesis schedules and follow up on compound deliverables.
• Partner with R&D groups to adapt and screen high-throughput organic synthesis conditions.
• Execute compound handoffs and follow-up experiments, including alternative synthesis routes for multi-step compounds.
• Document experiments in detail, including laboratory notebooks, synthesis metadata, inventory consumption, and final purified compound information.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline plus 3–5 years of relevant industrial or commercial experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related discipline plus 6–10 years of relevant industrial or commercial experience.
• Extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Experience with solution-phase and solid-phase organic synthesis and/or DNA-encoded libraries.
• Experience with high-throughput organic synthesis and datasets.
• Experience working closely in a team, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with peers and as an individual contributor to execute time-sensitive schedules.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
