Mechanical/Process Engineering Intern (Cryogenic Systems)

Location: On-site in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. Candidates located outside Colorado may receive a housing stipend of $500 per bi-weekly check.

Pay range: $27–$39 per hour.

What you will do

• Design and develop cryogenic cooling systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop solutions meeting evolving system and operational requirements.
• Support suppliers and manufacturing partners through fabrication, assembly, testing, and system integration.
• Participate in design reviews, verification and validation activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Contribute to safe and reliable cryogenic systems and supporting infrastructure.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Expected graduation after December 2027.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Must not be a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.

Nice to have

• Degree studies in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
• Continued enrollment in a degree program after completing the internship.
• Coursework or hands-on experience in thermodynamics, fluid systems, heat transfer, cryogenics, vacuum systems, instrumentation, or controls.
• Experience with CAD or engineering analysis tools such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar.
• Familiarity with instrumentation, data acquisition, controls, or automation.
• Programming experience with Python, C++, PLCs, or similar technologies.
• Academic achievement with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
