Senior Director, Clinical Science, Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid; primary location in Rahway, New Jersey, USA. This posting is for residents of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico; flexible work arrangements are hybrid. No relocation. Travel requirements: 10%.

Base salary: $210,400–$331,100 annually for the primary location; annual bonus and long-term incentive may apply.

What you will do

• Lead Clinical Science strategy across multiple gastrointestinal oncology studies, programs, and assets.
• Apply expertise in GI cancer biology, treatment landscapes, clinical endpoints, and oncology data to support study planning and development decisions.
• Standardize medical data review, data interpretation, scientific deliverables, and Clinical Science practices across the portfolio.
• Guide protocol development, amendments, study design, endpoint selection, eligibility criteria, and biomarker strategy discussions.
• Contribute scientific assessments to portfolio governance, program reviews, senior leadership meetings, and regulatory activities.
• Manage, coach, and develop Directors, Principal Scientists, and Clinical Scientists while leading through a matrix environment.

Requirements

• Advanced scientific or healthcare degree, such as PhD or PharmD, with 8+ years of pharmaceutical, clinical drug development, and/or medical field experience; or a master’s degree, preferably in life sciences, with 12+ years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree, preferably in life sciences, with 15+ years of experience.
• Significant experience in Clinical Development, Clinical Science, clinical drug development, or a related function in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Demonstrated Clinical Science leadership across multiple studies, programs, or assets.
• Deep therapeutic expertise in gastrointestinal cancers, including disease biology, current and emerging treatments, clinically relevant endpoints, and development considerations.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial design, clinical development strategy, clinical data review, and oncology data interpretation.
• Experience contributing to disease area strategy, portfolio discussions, cross-program planning, regulatory submissions, safety reviews, or health authority interactions.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment and integrating information across studies and programs.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and executive presentation skills.
• Demonstrated people leadership, including management, coaching, and development of scientific staff.

• Equivalent experience in place of the specified degree and experience pathways.
• Experience with visual analytics, centralized data review, AI-enabled workflows, or other technologies improving Clinical Science quality and efficiency.
