Agentic AI Principal (m/f/d)

Location: Hamburg, Germany; hybrid. The role focuses on Germany, the Netherlands and the wider DACH region, with work involving German, Dutch and European enterprises.

What you will do

• Shape and solution complex agentic AI pursuits, define commercial models, and advise C-suite stakeholders on business outcomes, architecture, risk and ROI.
• Lead AI maturity assessments, prioritise processes for agentisation, and define thin-slice deliveries that demonstrate value quickly.
• Set architecture direction for production-grade agentic AI systems covering multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool use, memory, context, retrieval, evaluation, observability and enterprise integration.
• Integrate agents with SAP, LIMS, QMS, clinical, MES/PLM, industrial and legacy back-office systems using protocols such as MCP and A2A where appropriate.
• Guide delivery across data, product, software engineering, enterprise architecture, governance and change specialists while validating architecture, unblocking teams and managing technical risk.
• Establish governance, auditability, traceability and safeguards, engage works councils and data protection officers, and grow agentic AI capability across teams and markets.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in modern software engineering and Python, including testing, CI/CD, observability, maintainability and production reliability.
• Recognised experience architecting and delivering complex GenAI and agentic AI systems at enterprise scale from discovery through production.
• Deep knowledge of agentic architectures and frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex or equivalent, including tool use, orchestration, memory, multi-agent coordination, MCP and A2A.
• Strong expertise in Retrieval-Augmented Generation, advanced information retrieval, vector databases and enterprise knowledge integration.
• Experience designing evaluation strategies covering quality, safety, reliability, latency and cost, together with strong knowledge of guardrails, red-teaming, observability, responsible AI, prompt injection, data leakage and tool misuse.
• Significant experience deploying AI systems on major cloud platforms with containers, orchestration and production infrastructure, including EU sovereign cloud, hybrid or on-premises environments and self-hosted open-weight models.
• Experience with prompt and context engineering, fine-tuning where appropriate, application-level optimisation, and architecture trade-offs across capability, reliability, security, compliance, performance and cost.
• Working knowledge of the EU AI Act, GDPR and relevant sector rules, including GxP, GAMP 5, EU MDR/IVDR, EHDS, DORA, NIS2 and BaFin requirements where relevant.
• Proven C-suite engagement, consulting and commercial experience, including shaping, selling and delivering complex Data & AI deals of €5M+; experience with €3M–5M-plus pursuits, fixed-price or outcome-linked elements, and an annual target of €10M+ TCV.
• Consultancy or professional-services experience within the last five years, ideally with German, Dutch or DACH enterprise clients, plus experience growing a practice, capability or go-to-market asset.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary delivery, influence without formal authority, stakeholder alignment, ambiguity management and mentoring of senior engineers and technical leaders.
• Experience navigating German stakeholder structures, including works councils, data protection officers and procurement.
• German at B2 minimum; C1 strongly preferred, plus fluent English.

• Experience delivering AI in healthcare or life sciences, including R&D, clinical, regulatory, manufacturing quality or commercial environments.
• Experience integrating agents with SAP and industrial or manufacturing systems.
• Experience with data product and data platform foundations for AI.
