TL;DR
Senior Data Engineer (AI): Building and improving production data infrastructure, pipelines, data quality systems, and data lake solutions with an accent on reliability, scalability, performance, and modern data architectures. Focus on designing robust data systems, optimizing processing and orchestration, and solving complex data quality, observability, and integration challenges.
Location: Budapest, XI., Science Park; on-site Monday to Thursday and remote on Fridays.

What you will do
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize production data pipelines, integrations, processing, storage, and orchestration.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data lake solutions and architectural improvements.
- Build automated data quality checks, monitoring, alerting, testing, observability, documentation, and reliability capabilities.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, pipeline failures, performance bottlenecks, and data consistency or availability problems.
- Own data engineering solutions from design and implementation through production operation.
- Collaborate with the Head of Data, Data Analysts, Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Software Engineering on analytics, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and enterprise requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on Data Engineering experience or closely related software engineering experience, including production data systems.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, including designing, developing, and maintaining reliable data pipelines.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT, data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and modern data architectures.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based data infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Experience with data warehousing, data storage, and data processing technologies.
- Experience with data quality, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Ability to independently design and implement technical solutions, evaluate trade-offs, and solve complex engineering problems.
- Experience collaborating with Data, Infrastructure, and Software Engineering teams; strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and ownership.
- Excellent English communication skills and fluent Hungarian.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with ClickHouse, Dagster, Airbyte, and Apache Superset.
- Experience with data lakes or lakehouse architectures.
- Experience implementing automated data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience in a B2B SaaS or data-intensive product environment.
- Exposure to AI-native products or data infrastructure supporting AI/ML use cases.
