SRE Monitoring Platform Software Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: San Jose, CA / Austin, TX — Remote within these locations

What you will do

• Build collection, ingestion, query, enrichment, and storage components for metrics, logs, traces, and profiles.
• Contribute to alerting, alert correlation, SLO frameworks, topology services, and cluster-health systems.
• Develop remediation actuators, orchestration and workflow components, inspection probes, and job schedulers.
• Integrate observability instrumentation with metrics, logs, traces, and OpenTelemetry; build dashboards and on-call runbooks.
• Write unit, integration, and contract tests and participate in chaos and soak testing under senior-engineer guidance.
• Ship production code through GitOps and CI/CD, operate developed components, and participate in shadow on-call before taking primary responsibility.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of software engineering experience; new graduates with strong projects or internships are welcome.
• Solid fundamentals in one programming language: Go preferred, Python, Java, or Rust; ability to write clean, tested, readable code and explain design choices.
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, TCP/HTTP networking, and operating-system concepts including processes, threads, and I/O.
• Understanding of distributed-systems concepts including idempotency, retries, back-pressure, caching, and eventual consistency, with eagerness to deepen this knowledge.
• Hands-on exposure to monitoring or observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or similar; ability to write a basic PromQL query and instrument a service.
• Familiarity with Linux and the shell, including reading system logs and using standard debugging tools.
• Understanding of Kubernetes Pods, Services, and Deployments, with experience running something on Kubernetes in a project, lab, or internship.
• Git and CI basics, including branching, pull requests, and use of a CI pipeline such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
• Habit of writing unit and integration tests and clear written and verbal English communication.
• Curiosity and a learning mindset, especially toward GPU/AI infrastructure, AIOps, distributed systems, and production-scale observability.

Nice to have

• Internship or project experience in monitoring, observability, telemetry pipelines, platform engineering, or SRE tooling.
• Exposure to GPU/AI infrastructure such as DCGM, InfiniBand/RoCE, Kubernetes GPU Operator, Slurm, or Ray.
• Exposure to AIOps or ML-adjacent tooling, including anomaly detection and alert correlation.
• Contributions to open-source observability or cloud-native projects.
