Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote, Sofia, Bulgaria

Salary: €6,000–€8,000 monthly

What you will do

• Own the full software development lifecycle from ideation and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform evolution.
• Contribute to the transition toward an agentic software development lifecycle.
• Support rapid business growth by designing and scaling platform systems, infrastructure, and developer tools.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Data teams, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building production-grade backend applications.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
• Significant practical experience building distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production databases, including PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and database performance tuning.
• Experience with AWS cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, and/or serverless architectures.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, clean code principles, and design patterns.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Curiosity about and active experimentation with how AI changes the software development lifecycle.

Nice to have

• Frontend experience with React or similar frameworks.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
