DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom; hybrid workstyle based in the Birmingham city centre office, with occasional travel to other offices.

What you will do

• Design, maintain, and refine automated build, deployment, CI/CD, infrastructure delivery, and DevOps processes using modern development standards and Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code.
• Manage Azure cloud infrastructure, support application maintenance, and contribute to database architecture covering structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with developers, leaders, internal and external stakeholders, and geographically distributed teams to clarify requirements, design solutions, and implement agreed development practices.
• Oversee major product feature enhancements from initial build through production release and business-as-usual maintenance.
• Support automated testing, production change governance through the CAB, and the consistent application of DevOps practices across projects.
• Mentor and upskill developers, promote continuous improvement, and contribute to hirify.global’s adoption of AI and custom AI integrations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Platform across a broad range of Azure resource types; AWS and GCP experience is not applicable.
• 3+ years of development experience with the Microsoft ecosystem, including C#, .NET, and ARM.
• Strong experience maintaining DevOps CI/CD pipelines, with knowledge of GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines strongly preferred.
• Strong experience with Terraform.
• Hands-on experience with monolithic and microservices codebases, modern cloud design patterns, loosely coupled architectures, Docker, Kubernetes, messaging queues, asynchronous architectures, and serverless technologies such as Azure Functions.
• Experience with structured and unstructured data, including MSSQL Server and Azure Cosmos.
• Experience creating and updating documentation, managing multiple internal and external stakeholders, prioritising and managing time-sensitive projects, and working on multi-year, multi-phase development projects involving multiple technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum, the ability to demonstrate solutions to senior stakeholders, and excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of AI and AI development tools.
• Development experience with Python.
• Professional development certifications in Azure or similar technologies.
• Experience building integrations with third-party SaaS products, virtualisation technologies, and cloud networking.
