Senior Design Systems Designer (Fintech)

Location: On-site in Dubai, United Arab Emirates or Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; relocation required. Visa sponsorship provided.

What you will do

• Build and evolve the end-to-end design system, including components, patterns, multi-tier design tokens, guidelines, documentation, and scalable foundations for web and mobile.
• Audit existing products, establish baseline components, and create a roadmap for systematic improvement across greenfield and brownfield environments.
• Architect and maintain design-token pipelines using tools such as Tokens Studio or Style Dictionary, enabling theming, dark mode, and design-to-code consistency.
• Partner with engineers on design-to-code fidelity, handoff processes, and reusable component libraries using tools such as Storybook and Zeroheight.
• Establish governance, contribution workflows, WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, responsive patterns, and quality controls while driving adoption through workshops, office hours, and enablement sessions.
• Apply the system to priority product features, mentor junior designers, measure adoption and efficiency gains, and own initiatives from concept through implementation.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of product design experience with deep, demonstrable expertise in design systems, component libraries, or design operations.
• A strong portfolio showing design systems built from the ground up, including component libraries, token architectures, documentation, measurable adoption, and impact.
• Expert-level Figma skills across components, variants, auto-layout, variables, and design tokens.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation in Markdown (.md) files and using AI tools such as Google Stitch, ChatGPT, and Claude to accelerate design and documentation workflows.
• Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, spacing systems, responsive design, and accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.2.
• Experience building systems from scratch in greenfield environments and improving and systematising existing products in brownfield environments.
• Strong systems thinking, practical decision-making, and the ability to balance design quality with scalability.
• A self-starter mindset with a proven record of building practices from 0 to 1 without heavy oversight.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, including effective work with designers and engineers and advocacy for design system adoption.
• Willingness to relocate to and work on-site in Dubai or Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Nice to have

• Front-end development skills in HTML, CSS, or React.
• Experience in fintech, proprietary trading, brokerages, SaaS, or complex, data-rich products.
• Familiarity with design system enablement tools such as Tailwind, Storybook, or Zeroheight.
