Senior Backend Software Engineer (FinTech)

Location: On-site at hirify.global's Singapore office.

What you will do

• Develop and operate scalable backend systems for the Payment Platform, Driver Payouts, Fee Platform, and driver and delivery partner ledger.
• Build distributed systems that process millions of transactions daily while maintaining correctness, consistency, reliability, security, and performance.
• Apply idempotency, two-phase commit, event sourcing, and Saga patterns to solve complex payment-platform challenges.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and partners to deliver new capabilities and contribute to architectural and technical decisions.
• Review code, maintain technical and operational documentation, including runbooks, and promote knowledge sharing and engineering best practices.
• Diagnose production issues, implement sustainable fixes, improve observability and automation, support deployments and operations, participate in on-call rotation, and mentor junior engineers and interns.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least five years of relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency in Go, Java, or another major programming language, plus willingness to participate in professional development activities.
• Computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures, with the ability to apply them.
• Ability to solve problems while considering edge cases, failure scenarios, and system recovery.
• Experience writing efficient, maintainable, thoroughly tested code using appropriate abstractions and SOLID principles.
• Understanding of clean architecture, data-intensive application design, and large-scale data processing.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems with relational and NoSQL databases, caching technologies, and RESTful or gRPC services while maintaining data consistency.
• Practical experience with microservices, AWS or other cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
• Experience designing systems that meet observability, availability, security, data governance, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to produce clear technical design documents and maintain operational documentation, including runbooks.
• Experience using Generative AI tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity and project delivery.
• Participation in the on-call rotation.
