Senior Paralegal (Global Foreign Exchange)

Location: Limerick, Ireland. Applicants must have the right to work in Ireland at the time of application and throughout employment. Employment permit sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, pricing agreements, standing instructions, and other FX and derivatives documentation.
• Manage negotiations with clients and counterparties in collaboration with Legal, business, risk, and onboarding stakeholders.
• Maintain and improve templates, negotiation playbooks, and standard documentation.
• Support technology, process improvement, innovation, and contract-management initiatives related to derivatives documentation.
• Conduct netting and collateral enforceability analysis, including reviews of industry and external-counsel legal opinions.
• Identify and escalate material legal, documentation, and enforceability issues while monitoring relevant regulatory and market-practice developments.

Requirements

• Extensive experience drafting and negotiating derivatives documentation, particularly FX derivatives documentation.
• Strong working knowledge of ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, and other industry-standard FX and derivatives documentation.
• Good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework for derivatives and financial markets across relevant jurisdictions, including US, UK, and EEA requirements such as Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Act, MiFID, EMIR, and CRD VI.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, including the ability to identify legal and commercial issues and progress negotiations.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, take ownership of matters, and collaborate with Legal, Risk, and business stakeholders.
• Comfort working in a complex, global financial services environment with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Paralegal qualification, certificate, or equivalent where required by the relevant jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in a nationally recognised law firm and/or in-house legal department, supporting foreign exchange, derivatives, securities finance, or a comparable transactional practice.
