Staff Electrical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; full-time on-site position.

Salary: $167,000–$230,000 base compensation per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the design of high-speed digital circuit cards and subsystems for aerospace and military applications, following customer requirements, applicable standards, and internal practices.
• Design PCBAs incorporating FPGAs, processors, memory devices, data converters, clocks, high-speed serial interfaces, and mixed-signal boundaries.
• Develop hardware architectures, schematics, stack-up recommendations, routing constraints, and design analyses for mission-critical electronics.
• Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis and define constraints for impedance control, length matching, return paths, grounding, shielding, decoupling, and circuit isolation.
• Coordinate with FPGA, embedded software, RF, power, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineers to integrate digital hardware into larger systems.
• Support board bring-up, troubleshooting, verification, qualification testing, production transition, field testing, documentation, and technical communication with vendors, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience designing high-speed digital hardware and digital boards with FPGAs, processors, memory devices, high-speed data converters, and board-level communication interfaces.
• Strong understanding of digital design fundamentals, including timing, clocking, controlled impedance, signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, decoupling, and return-path management.
• Hands-on experience with hardware integration and laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and protocol or signal measurement equipment.
• Ability to work independently on complex technical problems with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Experience with avionics platforms and mixed RF, analog, power, and digital electronics in tightly integrated aerospace or defense hardware.
• Experience using Altium Designer.
• Experience with DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, JESD204, SERDES, LVDS, or similar high-speed interfaces.
• Familiarity with EMI/EMC mitigation and aerospace standards including RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and MIL-STD-1275.
• Experience with design margin, derating, tolerance, or worst-case circuit analysis, design for manufacturability, and production transition.
