Laboratory Technical Services Manager - Lubricants & Metalworking Fluids

Location: Hybrid role based at the hirify.global Custom Lab Services facility in Houston, TX, US; preference for candidates located in the Houston area. Travel requirement: approximately 10%.

What you will do

• Lead laboratory activities in a Solution Center, setting objectives, meeting targets, and allocating and prioritizing resources.
• Work with Marketing, Sales, and Product Management to develop consumer products and formulations from concept through customer presentation.
• Drive current and future product development, innovation projects, and prototype creation to demonstrate ingredient functionality and support sales.
• Serve as the technical expert for the existing product portfolio and present new products at industry trade shows and digital platforms.
• Prepare detailed results, track projects and revenue generation, and supervise KPI performance.
• Visit and host customers with Sales, Marketing, and Product Management; operate, calibrate, maintain, and optimize laboratory instruments while supporting safety inspections and equipment protection.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related scientific field.
• At least 3 years of research and development experience, with a strong emphasis on development rather than pure research.
• Understanding of lubricants and metalworking fluids raw materials and formulation.
• Experience with creative development and preparation of chemical products and formulation innovations in the specialty ingredients space, standard key test methods, and laboratory and manufacturing methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and manage teams remotely.
• Ability to build positive relationships with key customer contacts and suppliers.
• High-level decision-making ability while balancing customer needs and company objectives.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to perform essential laboratory functions safely around chemicals and formulation materials, use standard laboratory equipment, remain stationary or stand for extended periods, and perform occasional physical tasks including walking, bending, reaching, squatting, and fine motor work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
