Senior Scientist, New Product Development (LC-MS/MS)

Salary: $111,500–$135,000 per year, plus bonus or incentive pay

What you will do

• Develop and commercialize clinical sample preparation consumables and LC-MS/MS workflows for clinical research, toxicology, forensic, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical applications.
• Translate sample preparation, LC-MS/MS, and industrial separation challenges into technical solutions and R&D opportunities.
• Design, optimize, and troubleshoot methods across analytes, biological matrices, and applications, focusing on recovery, matrix-effect reduction, reproducibility, and LC-MS/MS compatibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan projects, transfer technology, resolve technical issues, and deliver products on schedule.
• Review literature, conduct experiments, evaluate workflow performance, communicate results, prepare technical materials, publish findings, and support patent filings.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field; a PhD is preferred.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing sample preparation, extraction, enrichment, cleanup, or quantitative workflows for biological, clinical, or complex matrices.
• Strong hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS, mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, or related analytical instrumentation, including method development, quantitative analysis, data interpretation, and troubleshooting.
• Experience assessing recovery, selectivity, sensitivity, reproducibility, matrix effects, carryover, and robustness.
• Ability to manage multiple complex R&D projects and communicate scientific results through reports, presentations, publications, application notes, conference materials, or customer-facing content.
• Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment and occasionally lift or carry materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting a clinical laboratory and developing clinical sample preparation or LC-MS/MS workflows for biological matrices.
• Experience with magnetic bead products or automation-ready sample preparation workflows.
• Clinical mass spectrometry, toxicology, diagnostic, customer-facing, scientific publication, or conference communication experience.
