Process Engineering Consultant (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Clayton, North Carolina, United States; must be based in Clayton. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States is required, and employer-sponsored work authorization is not available.

What you will do

• Develop process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams, process descriptions, equipment specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
• Execute engineering tasks across conceptual, basic, and detailed design phases while meeting project quality, budget, and schedule expectations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, customers, vendors, and subject matter experts to develop practical and compliant process solutions.
• Analyze technical challenges, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions supporting customer objectives and project delivery.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, process improvements, and best practices.

Requirements

• Willingness and ability to be based in Clayton, North Carolina, and work in an agile, fast-paced, project-oriented environment.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant engineering experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or related regulated industries.
• Experience with process calculations, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with GMP-regulated environments and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive relationships with customers and project teams.
• Proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, commitment to continuous improvement, and willingness to expand technical capabilities through project experience, learning, and feedback.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with commissioning, qualification, validation, or process optimization activities.
