Contract Staff Software Engineer (Firefox, C++, Storage Encryption)

Location: Remote Canada, Germany, or the UK

hirify.global develops Firefox and its Gecko browser engine.

What you will do

• Contribute to delivering Storage Encryption Everywhere in Gecko, including migrating data between schemas and implementing data storage in PBM.
• Write and pass Web Platform Tests, add Gecko tests, and perform integration testing.
• Work through code review with Gecko module owners and iterate changes through upstream landing.
• Surface and help resolve specification questions raised during implementation.
• Shepherd the feature through Nightly, Beta, and Release, fixing correctness, performance, and regression issues.
• Ship Storage Encryption Everywhere to the release channel and fix triaged, prioritized issues.

Requirements

• Strong C++ skills.
• Substantial experience in a browser-engine codebase, ideally Firefox or Gecko.
• Substantial experience with databases.
• Familiarity with web standards and Web Platform Tests.
• Strong debugging and optimization skills in a multithreaded codebase.
• Comfort working in the open, including public bugs, code review, and upstream landing.

Nice to have

• Prior contributions to Gecko or another major browser engine.
• Familiarity with the relevant standards body and specification process.
