Senior Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

What you will do

• Design and implement a highly available, self-hosted Kubernetes cluster from scratch.
• Own cluster architecture, scalability, lifecycle management, and operationalization.
• Build a multi-purpose platform for staging, production, CI runners, remote devcontainers, internal web services, and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Develop internal tooling in Python and contribute to Kubernetes-specific components in Go where relevant.
• Design resource-aware workload orchestration with priority- and capability-aware queueing mechanisms.
• Expose and integrate hardware-in-the-loop setups into the platform and drive developer adoption.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant experience in platform, infrastructure, or backend engineering.
• Strong Kubernetes experience as a power user and at cluster-architecture level, beyond deploying workloads.
• Experience designing and operating self-hosted or on-premises Kubernetes environments.
• Solid software engineering background and mindset, with comfort in Python for internal tooling and Go.
• Strong Linux fundamentals.
• Experience with Docker and GitHub Actions.
• Highly efficient and structured technical communication skills, including clearly expressing decisions and trade-offs.
• Fluent English; Norwegian is not required.

Nice to have

• Experience with GitHub Actions Runner Controller (ARC).
• Experience with dynamic VLAN configuration, OpenStack, or on-premises infrastructure management.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Experience building internal developer platforms.
• Understanding of bare-metal-as-a-service concepts.
