Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Union Square, New York City; most roles require in-person work at the NYC headquarters.

Salary: $175K–$300K annually, plus equity; final compensation depends on skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions.

hirify.global is an AI video company building Captions, a creative workspace for generating, editing, and designing video, along with Tesseract video-editing capabilities and APIs for integrating its models into other products.

What you will do

• Design, build, and own backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure end-to-end.
• Solve complex technical challenges involving distributed systems, scaling, concurrency, and performance.
• Deploy, serve, operate, and scale large generative AI models in production.
• Instrument systems, run experiments, and iterate in production to improve system and product quality.
• Design and operate platform infrastructure, including third-party integrations, storage systems, security, and internal APIs.
• Partner with product, design, client, and AI teams to deliver reliable production systems connected to user outcomes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional industry experience.
• Experience operating at senior or staff+ scope.
• Track record of shipping high-impact systems and/or products in production.
• Exceptional problem-solving fundamentals and ability to learn.
• Excellent engineering judgment, practicality, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an extremely fast-paced environment and scope and deliver projects end-to-end.

Nice to have

• Extensive experience with LLMs and generative media models, with awareness of the direction of the technology.
• Startup founder or early engineer experience.
• Grounded, collaborative approach and willingness to contribute broadly to team outcomes.
