Senior Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote from anywhere between UTC -5 and +4 with reliable internet access; conditions listed for Ghana, Kenya, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Salary: Up to $185,800 USD or local equivalent, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own application security projects and work with product and platform teams on new systems and security improvements.
• Design agentic SIEM and SecOps pipelines for AI-driven triage, alerting, and response automation.
• Secure MCP integrations and AI-powered tooling against prompt injection, excessive permissions, tool misuse, credential exposure, and data exfiltration.
• Develop AI governance standards covering acceptable use, data handling, and audit requirements for LLM-powered tools.
• Centralize application login and permissions enforcement, including privileged access management, and improve secrets management with ephemeral secrets and tighter access scopes.
• Conduct security reviews of public-facing APIs and advise engineering teams through design reviews, code refactors, audits, and penetration testing.

Requirements

• 7–8 years of professional experience, including 3–5 years in a security-related role.
• Strong experience with Python.
• Fluent English.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of security projects from planning through delivery, and handle complex systems.
• Interest in securing agentic AI systems and applying secure engineering patterns.
• Interest in AI governance frameworks for regulated financial services and experience experimenting with LLM-based security tooling, including its failure modes.
• Interest in security-focused source code review, penetration testing, audits, and remediating non-conformities.
• Ability and interest in advising, mentoring, and helping other engineers implement secure patterns.
• Prior experience with cloud technologies; other parts of the stack can be learned on the job.

Nice to have

• Experience with industry certifications or standards such as ISO 27001 and PCI-DSS.
• Interest in growing and mentoring a security team.
