Senior Data Scientist, Ads Marketplace

Location: Hybrid role based within commutable distance of the Brooklyn office, with office attendance once or twice per week. Remote candidates outside commuting distance may be considered case by case, with occasional travel to the office expected.

Salary: USD 151,000–205,000 annual in Geo-1 and USD 136,000–184,000 annual in Geo-2, depending on location, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Lead analytical work across the product lifecycle for machine learning squads, from opportunity sizing through experimentation and success measurement.
• Partner with Ads Marketplace leads to define key analytical questions and identify high-impact opportunities.
• Conduct rigorous analyses to generate insights that improve the models powering the advertising product.
• Define metrics for robust measurement of product performance and marketplace outcomes.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and applied scientists to connect customer problems with model and system details.
• Communicate complex insights and recommendations to product teams, senior management, and the broader community.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a data scientist or data analyst, independently extracting meaning from large datasets with limited engineering support.
• 1+ year of experience developing, evaluating, or analyzing machine learning model performance.
• Track record of guiding product teams to identify high-impact opportunities, set meaningful goals against key outcomes, and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience working in a two-sided marketplace environment.
• Mastery of SQL and proficiency in R or Python.
• Experience crafting and analyzing online experiments, with a strong understanding of A/B testing.
• Ability to conduct sophisticated analyses and regularly apply advanced statistical methods, including propensity score matching, causal impact, and regression models.
• Ability to distill complex insights into compelling verbal and visual narratives for senior executives.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Spark ecosystem.
• Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other data visualization software.
