Lead Data Engineer (Gaming)

Location: Hybrid in London, United Kingdom; most time is remote, with office attendance for important team meetings, collaboration sessions, and business activities.

What you will do

• Own parts of the data pipeline and drive improvements aligned with technical and business goals.
• Build supporting pipeline services, including integrations with in-game maps and video tooling.
• Integrate the data collection platform with BI tools to enable studio self-service.
• Collaborate with DevOps, analytics engineers, Game Analytics analysts, and stakeholders across the studio business group.
• Improve data quality, lineage, observability, documentation, and the quality of existing tooling.
• Provide technical expertise, contribute to the platform’s technical direction, and share knowledge with colleagues.

Requirements

• Experience building and owning data pipelines for high-throughput streaming and batch data.
• Ability to write code in Go, or experience with Python combined with willingness to learn Go.
• Experience building robust, scalable, and resilient services.
• Demonstrated measurable impact in current and previous roles.
• Ability to solve data problems and take responsibility for quality, investigations, and remediation.
• Experience with cloud data services, including AWS data and analytics services such as Amazon S3, Redshift, Kinesis, Data Firehose, Athena, and AWS Glue.

Nice to have

• Use of AI during the development cycle, including Claude Code, Codex, or other harnesses.
• Experience with near real-time data processing, querying, and visualisation.
• Experience with Omni Analytics or a similar BI tool such as Looker or Tableau.
• Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
