Senior DevOps Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote - Japan - APAC; participation in a Follow-The-Sun on-call rotation from APAC or EMEA hours.

What you will do

• Design, build, operate, and improve platforms supporting software delivery, platform access, edge and L7 networking, and application-facing observability.
• Troubleshoot platform problems, advise engineering teams, and participate in regional support coverage.
• Participate in the Follow-The-Sun on-call rotation by triaging alerts, leading incident debugging and escalation, and driving blameless post-mortems and follow-up actions.
• Own production change and release paths using GitHub Actions, Argo CD, and Helm across multiple clusters and regions.
• Operate high-traffic edge and API gateway infrastructure serving hundreds of millions of requests daily, along with internal production services such as Grafana, Sentry, Teleport, Metabase, and Atlantis.
• Build self-service platform capabilities, golden paths, and end-to-end improvements that enable engineering teams to ship safely and quickly.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform/Infrastructure, or SRE roles, with proven experience operating large-scale, highly available, high-performance production systems.
• Experience carrying multi-quarter platform work end to end in complex environments with multiple Kubernetes clusters.
• Deep production Kubernetes experience, including multi-cluster upgrades, debugging, operational ownership, and packaging and deploying workloads with Helm.
• Strong Infrastructure-as-Code skills with Terraform across multiple environments, using GitOps as a first principle and least privilege as a default.
• Proven experience building and owning CI/CD pipelines at scale, including GitHub Actions and releases deployed to multiple production locations.
• Experience with GitOps continuous delivery using Argo CD or a comparable transferable tool.
• Production experience with Google Cloud, ideally GKE, and fluency operating on GCP day to day.
• Solid L7 networking fundamentals covering load balancing, DNS, TLS, and HTTP routing, with the ability to debug the request path from edge to workload.
• Platform-as-a-Product mindset, strong written communication, and willingness to work effectively in a distributed, async-first team and take part in APAC or EMEA on-call coverage.

Nice to have

• Policy-as-code and IaC quality tooling, such as OPA/Conftest, Checkov, tflint, or Atlantis.
• Experience managing Terraform state, module registries, and versioning at scale across many teams.
• Experience running secret management services at scale with HashiCorp Vault, OpenBao, or similar tools.
• Experience with internal PKI and certificate lifecycle management, including private CAs, issuance and rotation, and mTLS.
• Experience building self-service developer platforms and internal golden paths with Backstage, Tilt, or similar tools.
• Production experience with Azure alongside GCP; working proficiency in Go; strong Linux and container fundamentals; security and compliance experience in regulated environments; or familiarity with trading, brokerage, or regulated fintech.
